Science and I

Every since I was a child I always found the enviroment so beautiful. On the weekends, I would find myself and my family sharing special moments by going on hikes in the mountains and riding our boat on the lake. When senior year came around, attending Appalachian State University was an easy choice. Many people here share the same love for our planet as I do. In the past few years, it has  come to my attention our enviroment is suffering so much. With the population skyrocketing and our resources becoming limited we are facing a crutial time period to make a difference. Changes have to be made if we don't want future generations to suffer from our mistakes.

As a nutrition major, I believe by changing our diet we can make a huge difference in the emissions let out into the enviroment. Did you know that animal agricultural is responsible for a ton of greenhouse gases? Cows are a large percentage in the animal agricultural greenhouse gases. In turn, by limiting the amount of meat that we consume, it would reduce our enivomental impact. For myself this is what stem and sustainablility is. It is using your knowledge of math, science, engineering, and technology to help our world become more sustainable.
This picture was actually taken on a trail off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, but look how beautiful the mountains are. It is this generation's responsibility to ensure they stay this way.

  1. My love of the mountains played a large role in my choosing of Appalachian State University as well. It's great to be in a community that cares so much about sustainability and helping protect the world we live in. Great picture and good luck with your major.

  2. Hey Sarah, I am very connected to nature as you are. I lived right next to the Amazon so I had the opportunity to travel there during my breaks and get to know more of my country and its territories. Appalachian was not my first choice but I am now glad that I am here, although I am not use to snow, is going to be a great experience.

  3. instead of saying choosing Appalachian state maybe say attending so that it breaks up your word selection. and I would maybe switch places of your last two sentences to make the piece flow, but other wise this is great and I enjoy the context and layout of your piece.

  4. Sarah,
I share your passion for preserving our beautiful environment as well. If you look at my blog you might notice that we have another common passion. I would like you to read the 5th and 7th sentences from the first paragraph and the 3rd one from the second paragraph and re-write them. I can go over them with you in class if you need more explanations.

  5. like you I chose Appalachian state because it was in the mountains and has such a beautiful atmosphere and I agree that we need to concerned about our environment. We only have one Earth and as a people we should start caring about the ecosystem.
